Privacy Policy

The short version
The tools on this website run 100% in your browser. We do not collect, store or sell any personal information, and the text you type into the translator never leaves your device — unless you deliberately share it using one of the share-link buttons. There are no user accounts and no sign-ups. Three limited things are involved in a visit, all described in full below: standard server logs, Google Analytics (anonymous, aggregate visit statistics, which uses cookies), and local storage in your own browser (your tool settings and practice score — stored on your device, never sent to us). If advertising is enabled, Google advertising cookies may also be used, and you can control those too.
Information we collect
Text you type into the tools
None. Translation, decoding and audio playback happen locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent to a server, saved, logged, or shared. If you close the page, it is gone.
Server logs
Like almost every website, the hosting server may automatically record basic technical information when a page is requested — for example your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used only for security, troubleshooting and understanding aggregate traffic, and are not used to build profiles of individual visitors.
Local storage — settings and practice scores (on your device only)
So the site remembers how you like it, your translator settings (speed, tone, waveform, spacing and theme) and your practice trainer's best score are saved in your browser's local storage — a small storage area inside your own browser. This data never leaves your device, is never sent to us, and we cannot see it. It is not a cookie and involves no tracking. You can erase it at any time by clearing site data in your browser settings; the tools work fully without it, they simply forget your preferences.
Cookies
This website's own code does not set cookies. Cookies may be set by the two Google services described below: Google Analytics (measurement) and — only if ads are being displayed — Google AdSense (advertising).
Website analytics — Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — which pages and tools are visited, roughly which country visitors are in, and what kinds of devices and browsers they use. That helps us decide what to improve. In providing this service Google processes standard technical data (such as your IP address, browser and device type) and may set cookies (for example _ga) to tell one visit from another. The reports we see are aggregated statistics; we do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors, and we never sell data to anyone.
Your choices
- You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google's official Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- You can block or delete cookies, including analytics cookies, at any time in your browser settings. The tools on this site work fully with cookies blocked.
How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising — Google AdSense
This site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. In connection with those ads:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick / DART cookie) enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure ad effectiveness and personalise advertising content.
Your choices
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings: google.com/settings/ads
- You can opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. The tools on this site work fully even with cookies blocked.
For more detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Share links, puzzle links and embeds — your choice
Some tools offer Copy link, share and puzzle link buttons. These work by encoding your message into the link itself (the part after ?q= in the address). Nothing is uploaded and nothing is shared automatically: a link exists only when you create it, and anyone you send it to will be able to read the message it contains — that is what the feature is for. If a message is private, do not put it in a share link. The embeddable version of the translator (offered on our About page) loads this site's code inside another website's page; when it does, this same policy applies to that use.
Children's privacy
This site is a general-audience educational tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or from anyone else; the analytics described above are aggregate statistics and are not used to identify individual visitors of any age.
Links to other websites
Pages on this site may link to external websites (for example, the advertising opt-out pages above). We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Because the site is static and collects no personal information, changes would most likely relate to analytics or advertising.
